Wee Care about helping prepare your child for the transition to pre and primary school...

At Wee Care we understand that the preschool years are an exciting, fun, and sometimes challenging time in your child’s life. Our expert staff have knowledge and understanding of the developmental needs of this age group and they have developed a curriculum that supports the child through all the main developmental areas and prepares them for pre and primary school.

At Wee Care we have specially designed pre-school rooms which offer children opportunities to learn through carefully planned, well-resourced activities. Operating under the auspices of DENI 1996 (curricular guidance for pre-school) the children are offered experiences which incorporate the 6 areas of learning. Through weekly planning, observation and evaluation we strive to ensure that each child reaches their full potential and is prepared for the transition to primary one.

Kings Road Branch

At our Kings Road nursery we currently offer PEAGS Funded Pre-school places in our purpose built unit. We have recently expanded to offer both morning and afternoon sessions due to the popularity of our provision and quality of care and education provided. Kings road also offer bi-lingual immersive learning in Spanish.

Windsor Avenue North Branch

Our Windsor Avenue North branch operates bilingually in English and French. This concept, a first for Northern Ireland, helps children take their first steps in learning to speak a new language. The benefits of learning a second language at this age are vast and our bi-lingual programme has proven very popular with both parents and children.

Dublin: Montessori

The Montessori Method is based on the certainty that all children are endowed with the capacity to absorb. At Wee Care we provide the children with all elements of culture, reading, writing, botany, zoology, mathematics, geography in a prepared environment and let this absorption begin. It is not learnt by listening to words, but by virtue of experiences. The teacher’s task is not to talk but to prepare a series of experiences in a prepared environment made for the child to learn by discovery.

Our main aim for this age group is to support the development in the following areas;

  1. Social and emotional development
  2. Early mathematical experiences
  3. Language development
  4. The arts
  5. The world around us
  6. Physical development

These areas are not taught in isolation, but rather in a holistic way.
